Oodles of Avatars!

Hi everyone!

I searched out images for avatars and put together around 130 of them for us to use here. It took me a while to get them all properly resized, but I finally figured out what I was doing wrong and fixed them up. Max then uploaded them to the site and they are ready for use. I hope that you like the selection. I hope everyone will pick an avatar. It brightens up the pages. As always, you are free to upload your own image if you prefer.

For those who aren't familiar with this, here's what you do.

1) Click on User CP at the top of the page.

2) On the User CP page, click on Change Avatar in the left column. It's under Your Profile, then under Edit Profile, it's the 4th item.

3) On the Change Avatar page, you will see a dropdown menu in the Gallery section. Click on the double arrow to see the gallery choices. I suggest you look at all of them to really appreciate the fine job I did. (cough, cough) The eight choices are:

1. Animals
2. Arts
3. Default Gallery (came with the program)
4. History
5. Miscellaneous
6. Nature
7. SciFi
8. Symbols
   

4) Choose one of those to look at, then click Go. That will take you to a page with all the choices in that category.

5) Once you have found the one you want to use, click in the little circle next to the image name.

6) Click Change Avatar at the bottom of the page.

That's it! You're all set.

I checked 'em out. Can really appreciate how much work you put into this but I'm sticking with my old guy reading newspaper. I have a personal attachment to it so I think I'll hang onto him for awhile.

Of course it's great for members to hang on to their own avatars. It creates more variety for one thing. There are lots of members without avatars and we hope that by making it easier to get one and having more choice, more people will decide to decorate their posts.

The size restrictions for uploading your own pic/avatar are a tad ridiculous. Doubt I could find anything I'd be interested in using @65x65 pixels.

Oh well, I shall proceed avatarless....

That's weird. The ones I uploaded are either 80x80 or 100x100. Let me see if I can fix it.

Okay, I can't fix it. I will ask Max to take care of this.

It just so happened I was going to 'try on' a different avatar, and the size restriction left me with nadda...but then I didn't 'cancel' the attempt, and so lost the one I'd been using, ha

I'll try again later when I'm not at work.
