RE: Views: Oh, Do Let's All Just Shoot Each Other Over Every Little Thing, Shall We?
![]() Sorry: It's one of those Idiots With Guns days. Raul Rodriguez, a retired firefighter in Texas, is on trial for killing elementary school teacher Kelly Danaher and wounding two others after he confronted them about their party's loud music. Rodriquez claims he was just “standing my ground†- albeit on their property, after he baited and threatened them. Incredibly, he videotaped the entire incident; even more incredibly, he seems to think the chilling evidence will help his case. Scary in countless ways. “I’m telling you, I’m telling you, stop, I said stop right now or I will shoot you!" This is a rather incredible and appalling story of what happens with these idiotic "stand your ground" laws. This is so disgusting. He goes on their property, with a gun, to complain about the noise from a party. He threatens them with the exact words the stand your ground law tells you to use. They are clearly unarmed. He then shoots and kills one and injures two others with multiple gunshots. Now he is on trial and trying to use stand your ground as his defense. Their ought to be a law that limits gun ownership to people with IQs over 70, and are able to pass a common sense test. Go to the link for the video he filmed of the entire episode, along with links to the story at Raw Story and a really insightful analysis at DennisLoo.com. Professor Loo says that these stand your ground killers are invoking the same logic our government is invoking against Iran. The whole website is very interesting and I urge you to explore it. I want to talk about how the logic by which Rodriquez, George Zimmerman, and others who have escaped prosecution for chasing after people who offend them and killing them - claiming that they were the ones who were in fear for their lives when they actually turned the incident into a fatal encounter by chasing after their alleged adversaries – matches our government’s rhetoric and behavior. These murderers and our government are all invoking a variant of the infamous “Batterer’s Defenseâ€: “She made me do it.†andrea@oldelmtree.com |

Isnt this texas? The homeowners have a right to use lethal force against tresspassers. Isnt rail the tresspasser? If he is found innocent i think i will start a movement in which i get cops or right wing politicians pissed off at me then kill them for fin when they "scare" me. I am pretty sure the right wingers will come after us. Civil war is closer and closer. I am glad i moved to france

A reasonable law abiding person would have called the police and asked them to shut down the party. What we have here are the ingredients for anarchy and murder on whim without paying any consequences; a nation without any effective laws.

I sincerely hope he is found guilty, but something I read at the DennisLoo.com link said that in Florida 70% of those that invoke the stand your ground law get off scot free. This is Texas, I don't know how many get off there. He had already called the police, but I guess they didn't get there fast enough for his liking. andrea@oldelmtree.com |

Breaking: Trayvon Martin Case Prompts Civil Rights Commission Investigation On Stand Your Ground Laws
Quote:The United States Commission on Civil Rights is launching an investigation into the various state Stand Your Ground laws, as a responses to the controversy surrounding the killing of Florida teen Trayvon Martin. According to the Commission, the review will look at specific case studies like Floria and amass national statistics on who is affected and how effective the law is of suppressing crime. http://www.mediaite.com/online/trayvon-m...ound-laws/ Stand Your Ground won't work anymore, hopefully .... |
