Otis is Resurrected - the art of the short story...
I first became aware of this story while driving one day. It was playing on NPR, and I first took it as truth. It wasn't until after it finished, that they informed us, the listeners, it was just a short fictional story. After hearing it, I was probably like those who had listened to Orson Welles do his War of Worlds version, who were shaken.
I highly recommend this as an art for the short story. It touches every sensory emotion, from sadness, happiness, melancholy, outrage, and even a small degree of triumph. It is a story that will stay with you. The only place I could find the transcript was this persons blog site. I think it's well worth the time to read: http://meowhouse.net/2007/11/30/armadill...ave-known/ Even if we could turn back, we'd probably never end up where we started. Haruki Murakami |
