I'm no astrologer but I think its when Mercury goes retrograde in your sign that these things and more can happen... Computer crashes, software glitches, traffic jams, telephone service snarls up, letters lost in the mail, machinery breakdowns. I went through a bad one last year, not anxious for repeat any time soon.

It'll all settle down by late next week if that's any consolation.

I am having a particularly bad Mercury retrograde period this time. Not only did OET go down when the scamming host skipped town, my phone freaked out on me, Yahoo locked me out of my email, and every night around 11:00 I can't OET to load for several hours.

It was a scammer - the guy who bought Eggyak. Such a shame. It was an excellent company when we first went with them.

I had not seen or heard of it before. I wish I had followed my gut feeling and left as soon as I heard they had sold the company. Live and learn I guess.

We've been running into a problem with one of our domains - the webhost that has been with us for about 8 years gave up the ghost and ignores support requests. We've had to move to a new host.

Please tell me which host. Send it in a pm if you prefer. Thanks!

What state are you in?

RE: Dastardly Disaster Debriefing
I'm mostly in a state of confusion. I'm visiting in Ontario right now but here's what happened this morning. My OET bookmark takes me to The Crisis forum menu. Then I log in and click on the Old Elm Tree Forums link under the Sponsors box. And nothing happens, it just loads and loads. I remembered reading something F. Gordon said so I restarted FireFox. I have it set to dump all cookies and history whenever I shut it down. Well, that worked and it started right up. So, I hope more people become aware that you have to do this until you guys can figure out why that is and somehow fix it. I imagine some people won't want to have to restart their browser just to get here.

Hope that info helps.

RE: Dastardly Disaster Debriefing
F. Gordon and enufalready, I've tried various clearings of my cache and history (removing ALL history made my computer freeze), and restarting Firefox, etc., and it hasn't worked -- but I have the same problem on IExplorer, which I very rarely use (basically only at times like this), and get "Network Error" at the same times Firefox can't find the server. But I thank you for the suggestion.

Again I went about 24 hr before I could finally connect a little while ago.

I am now locked out of my Yahoo account (again) so I can't email you. Are you having any better luck today? They did something yesterday that was supposed to solve the problem. I couldn't get on for about three hours after they did it, but since then I have been okay.

RE: Dastardly Disaster Debriefing
Actually, it's been okay since sometime this afternoon. I'll see what it's like in the morning, which is when I've been locked out almost every day.

I've been able to connect all day -- it appears the problem is solved? Or are others still "out there"? Have you been able to be on today okay, Andrea?

I have been fine since yesterday afternoon. I think it is solved, but I am still monitoring. I hope things settle down now.

RE: Dastardly Disaster Debriefing
It seems to have straightened out for me.

I could rarely get to the site before. Now I seem to have no problems.
