Weird message as I try to reply to a post
A window pops up as I hit "send". It's a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark that tells me my message is longer than the 87 (?) characters allowed. Today is the very first time I've seen it, but it has stared me in the face more than once.

Now what?

RE: Weird message as I try to reply to a post
That's the heading of the original post.

with the "re:_______" the heading is too long for the board settings.

Just edit the heading and cut part of it out.

Instead of :

Re: "Question for Determinists (E.g., those who say it's all just genes and environment)"

Edit the heading to something like "Re: Question for Determinists"

or Re: Question for Determinists (those who say it's all just genes and environment)"

Thanks for answering that, ocarina. I've never seen it before. We don't have a limit on the length of a post, but I guess we have to on post titles, otherwise the format would be goofy. I wonder, though, how the OP was able to have such a long title. Max is an expert in MyBB and I'm always asking him questions about things I'm curious about. I'll add this to the list.

My OET is showing all white
It looks all weird. Am I the only one? Unable to start a new topic so I am borrowing this thread with new topic title in. Having trouble here.

Puzzled

I am seeing all white for background. No green. No layout. No graphic except for elm leaves and smilies.

Everything looks normal to me, Bryn. It sounds like the page isn't loading fully for you. Try refreshing. If that doesn't work, maybe check your modem speed. They always say to clear your cache, but it doesn't sound quite like that to me.

RE: Weird message as I try to reply to a post
Today I tried to do a reply using the Quick Reply feature, and I got the "87 characters exceeded" message.

I had to copy and paste my original reply, making it part of the OP and shortening the header.

Why can't the Quick Reply feature ignore the header? Instead of worrying a person over how long the header happens to be.
